Watched El Topo (1970), directed, written and starring Alejandro Jodorowsky. The film follows El Topo, a cowboy dressed in all black, on a spiritual quest through a weird desert. Feels like the good, the bad and the ugly on a heroic dose of shrooms. He has to fight odd characters to achieve enlightenment. The movie was filmed in multiple regions of Mexico. It’s absolutely stunning. At first I wasn’t really sure what the movie was about, since it’s so weird. But once you get to the second part, it’s about the violent encounters between different religion. It’s a cult classic. Very odd movie. 7.2/10 #nodereviews

I have not seen El Topo, but have you seen "Jodorowsky's Dune"? Awesome documentary about the movie the spent years on but never made.

Not yet. This is the first one of his I’ve watched. I tried watching Fando Y Lis before this one, but the version I found had the commentary of Jodorowsky over the movie so I watched this one instead.

I’ll try and find it. Thanks!

Jodorowsky is an incredibly underrated director

I knew him from the graphic novels he wrote. He’s a legendary storyteller. I discovered recently that he’s also a prolific movie director. I guess it’s time to watch all his stuff 😂
