What is the red here in this block?

Running my own node (Raspiblitz), which came with Core v26. I don't think I've ever seen this on the public mempool.space, so I'm surprised to see it on my self-hosted MempoolSpace

I recently added minrelaytxfee=0.00000100 to my config, could that be related?

I think I've worked it out now

Just before making my note a couple of hours ago, I made my mempool more permissive via bitcoin.conf, and therefore I have lots of low-fee transactions in the (predicted) upcoming blocks:

The mempool.space that's running on my node marks them red if the fee rate is less than 2 sat/vB:

By contrast, the public one at https://mempool.space has a different colouring scheme, and therefore the same transactions that would be red in mine are green in the public one:

So basically, I think my mempool is relatively similar to the public one. For the next few predicted blocks, the number of transactions and the distribution of fees is relatively similar. So I think the main difference is this superficial different in the colouring scheme

Bumping for visibility because I had the same thing

Internet says “They’re blocks mined by pools that didn’t include your node’s local transactions — basically, the block template differs from what your node thought was most profitable”

I was on core 28 and never had red blocks. Switched to core 29 and got red blocks all of a sudden. But then I switched to knots and the red blocks disappeared….confused

That was in my 'Next Block', i.e. it hasn't been mined yet.

Thanks for the info! Do you have a link?

My current theory is that my mempool has transactions that my relay partners don't (yet) have. This seems to be analogous to the idea that you shared

No worries man 🤙🏼

yes I think it’s what you said, your memepool differs from the “majority” memepool (if you go on memepool site you will not see any red blocks ever).

Might be that upgrading there’s a new configuration that is causing this?? Maybe the minrelaytx fee you were talking about. If you put that to 1sat/vb does it fix the issue?
