nostr:npub1pyzvmpujlpcy9whydlcay3gkm02wu0flehua3afdwqt22yqt33cqe6k0h8 didn’t we talk about wether you have to declare how much btc you own or not? 🤔

I just found this. Looks like you don’t have to declare it in Germany if you don’t sell within one year.

(It’s under „Muss ich in meiner Steuererklärung meinen kompletten Krypto-Bestand oder nur meine Gewinne angeben?“)

I watched a nice youtube video by nostr:npub122pnqy3sxlnghaxarll4rywx2jy5d2vf2a52pdguzmdea4wlupesdpvsgz about how to manage the taxes. There are nice tools like CoinTracking to do that.

The point is, if you don’t declare at all, you can’t claim the losses back. And the losses are something that the government actually covers. So it’s useful to declare things every year. CoinTracking generates a nice electronic report that you can send to your Finanzamt. As far as I know it includes the total amount that you have plus your gains/losses.

Thanks for the resource 🙏

As far as i understand, you don’t have to submit the full documentation. Only keep it if their will be questions. And the losses CAN be declared in the Steuererklärung. The gains MUST be declared there.

I am just paranoid of telling the government exactly how much btc i own. Especially with my recent governmentexperiences … 😅

I totally understand your paranoia 😂 I‘m like that as well.

As for the declarations, I keep them for myself and the Finanzamt never called me back. I guess unless you have tens of BTC, nobody there will care. Otherwise they would be already hunting all the people trading t-shirts on Ebay (strictly speaking, all taxable events 🤣)
