Is it better to have your computer facing the window or a wall?

It's more about where the sweat drops.

lulz

I think Derek avoids windows and mac 🤣

I know I do. Windows = a backdoor to your world, and MacOS Hex, same thing. You open the word processor, it writes to apple over the net about it. How is that even remotely acceptable when you pay 5 grand for a machine?

Linux all the way. It may be harder until you're used to it, but it won't screw you over the same way.

the screen shouldn't be visible to a window looker.

Unless youre into that sorta thing

Window for natural lighting during video calls.

Perpendicular to window

I usually point it at ma face

👀

No windows only Linux

No walls cause freedom

My computer should be facing the wall during the summer months. That is to say, I should be able to see out the window behind my monitor.

During the winter months, the snow blindness gets very real and we need to turn around.

50/50

The wall. To watch the green.

window all day

Wall.

When it’s a window then there can be glare and the contrast is hard on the eyes. But at the same time if I’ve got a view out the window then I really enjoy getting to look outside when I’m thinking or need a microbreak.

At the moment my home office only has a skylight, but I’m hoping for a view when I move.

Window

You need to be able to look up on occasion and view an object at a distance or you'll hurt the eyes. Doesn't need to be necessarily a window but maybe across a room. Same with seating. You need to get up on occasion.

Perpendicular is fine for me but I don't have a specific reason why.

your face, generally speaking

As long as the blinds are down it doesn't matter.

Facing the wall, but window should not be directly behind.

Video calls will look much worse if directly behind.

When I was a kid, no matter how awesome was the view, the important thing was to avoid parents getting an easy look, so laptop was always facing the wall, and when you hear footsteps approaching, quickly hit the keyboard with the acronyms POS (parents over shoulders) so whoever you're chatting with, understands that you GTG (got to go), then hit control alt delete or switch to some school-ish stuff. It had become a habit, no matter how wholesome the site I was on, or what I was doing. I've always been nerdy so it's all nerdy stuff but it's a habit I was able to keep up to now. Privacy was like my middle name

In your case, maybe the acronym will be WOS, disguised as wallet of satoshi but in fact Wife Over Shoulders

imho, laptop facing the window

Adults don't need to hide stuff

Plus, the view of nature will always give you insights, as the retina functions with special sensors, the cones and rods, that translate the visual data to electrical data once exposed to light, thereby transmitted into the occipital cortex by the optic nerve, and your brain decodes it as zen (your awesome nature view)

Happy WOS'ing though

White wall 100%

Screen facing you while you face the window. Have a view occasionally and no glare. This makes the assumption I stay in one position while working on my laptop which I find near impossible.

Window. Easier on the eyes and healthier for the brain to have light behind the screen. You will experience less fatigue.

The wall 🧱

Wall

screen faces the wall -> no window reflection

you face the window -> see light and green.

from the window

to the wall

to the sweat drip...

our work computers are in a warehouse that is devoid of windows, at home i prefer mine facing the window :)

Till the sweat drips down my balls? Aww skeet skeet skeet....

Depends on your personality. Used to work at Diet Doctor, where our boss wanted us all to sit against a wall because that's what he enjoyed. Less distractions. But if you have my personality, one where you want to have control/oversight, then sitting against a wall becomes even more distracting. But cause you're always freaking out that someone is walking behind you. So for me, I personally feel more in control and in focus, seeing more. While some, work better seeing only their screen and a wall behind...

Can a door be an option?!

window sounds more feng shui

I would still be under a window if I didn't look like a phantom on video calls.
