Start9 Server One or Server Pure?

I will likely only run things like Bitcoin Knots, a Lightning Node, and BTCPay Server.

If you are determined to buy from them instead of your own hardware the One should easily be plenty. However if you look at the specs it says:

(Pure) Operating System: StartOS (with Coreboot firmware and Intel® Management Engine disabled)

(One) Operating System: StartOS

So being a rather stupid person i opted to spend more sats on the thing with the things that are disabled, despite it being absolute overkill for what i’m doing with it (basically just validating 🤣)

How big of a deal is the secure option vs the cheaper option?

Is there any history CPU level attacks or is it just to take security a step further?

Sadly on Start9 currently public pool doesn’t work

In the works?

We tried it but the networking rules of start9 don’t allow the webui to pass. So we need to wait until start9 releases a customizable networking rules firmware

That is a bummer. Hopefully it will come along soon enough 🤞

Interested in hearing takes on this as well.

Start9 won't run knots. You don't have to buy their hardware you can just flash StartOS on an desktop.

Good to know. 🙏

You can save some money if you are good with hardware. Start9 will run on these:

Minibolt, roll your own imo. In the long run you will be better for it.

Pure, you will likely run your own mempool instance, Matrix or simplex server, agora etc. may as well get the right tool the first time around
