People that are good at school are generally good at making justifications for anything and everything.

That's great for anyone that wants yes-men/slaves, not for truly creative endeavors.

School teaches you to pursue approval, not truth. And that's toxic to the soul.

True.

The "education" system at least in The U.S. is a blatant indoctrination center to create obedient workers. It beats out all the independent thought through punishment. It only wants regurgitation of information, not critical thought.

Anti authoritarian I had hell of a time getting through school

Truth > Approval

The peer review process works the same way. I had a novel computational approach to solving a certain class of problems for my dissertation that enabled these problems to be solved in the real world, but with a trade-off that the solutions weren't optimal. Getting papers accepted by the gate keepers was a challenge to say the least and I knew every question while presenting papers at conferences before being asked. Got out asap.

“i never let schooling interfere with my education” mark twain

This one hits deep for me. I appreciate that I grew up in a place with great public schools but it was hard not to feel like we were getting systematically dulled instead of sharpened.
