I don't consider anything temporary to be happiness. Looking for happiness in temporary things is the cause of suffering. It can't be acquired like an object. It's our nature but we've forgotten. That's why self-realization is so important.

What is bhakti #yoga? Chanting the name of God. This path is known to purify the heart and get one ready for a direct perception of #God. Why is a pure heart so important to God? Because He wants all of you or none at all. Doesn't it tell us in The #Bible to be hot or cold, and not lukewarm? You can't love God and the world. No man can serve two masters. If any man love brother, sister, mother, child more than ME... he is not worthy of ME. Surrender in a spiritual sense is giving up the ego. The passage in The #Bible that says "Be still and know that I am #God" is about giving up the ego and merging the individual self with the eternal self. When the mind ceases to function (through God's grace), one can perceive Him after their heart has been purified. Everyone is seeking God albeit in different places. Our souls get tired from the misery of the world. This is what the parable of The Prodigal Son is about. Once we realize the world can't satisfy us, we seek to return to God. Returning to God means uniting our individual consciousness with eternal consciousness or "surrender".
