My NextDNS subscription has ended. This year, I decided not to renew it simply because the developers clearly aren’t investing in the project or improving it. Instead, I installed HaGeZi Pro and HaGeZi TIF blocklists on my old MikroTik. With the money I saved from not renewing the subscription, I bought a Xiaomi AX3000T router. Unfortunately, I don’t know which memory manufacturer is in this unit (there are three possible ones), and one of them is known to cause issues. So I’m waiting for a patch in the stable OpenWRT branch before flashing it to use DoH and a local blocklist like I have on my MikroTik. For now, I’ve set up a free DNS from Controld with HaGeZi Pro blocklist: https://controld.com/free-dns

I also set Controld’s DNS on my smartphones, except for the ones using Proton’s DNS. Overall, the results are worse than what I had with NextDNS, but at least it’s free. Besides, I had been meaning to buy a new router for a while anyway.
