This is how I start my tractor... Hot wire.

The dash shorted out and caught on fire last winter and the starter relay rusted out so I took the dash off and hot wire it to start it now. Who needs gauges and ignition switches anyway...

Well done sir

When I was a starving student in the early 90’s I had a Datsun 210 whose ignition switch had failed. So I replaced it with a home doorbell switch on the underside of the dash. Worked like a dream!

Reduction to the essentials is a path to contentment.

Less shit to break.

simple > complicated

How do you switch it off?

I pull the engine choke.

What kind of tractor?

Piece of shit. It's a foton. One of the biggest mistakes I've made. Buying an oddball tractor with no parts availability.

Foton!? Huh. I am going to have to google it. I went with Yanmar. We had a local dealer in down for parts and it still had some of its 10 year powertrain warranty left when I bought it from auction.

Chinese tractor (foton). I probably spent too much time researching tractors. I had to narrowed down to. Yanmar, kubota, or new holland. There was a YouTube video I found that compared all the brands and where they were made. Where they were made seems to correlate with quality.

Wish I would have done something like that.

Well done, keep it simple.

You could probably put a light switch or something on that with some Wago lever nuts. Save you the effort every time
