Phone Scam Alert - I had this call this morning and while I don’t think anyone reading this would fall for it, you may have older friends or family who would.

“WIlliam” from my internet service provider said I had a service appointment scheduled for tomorrow at 5 pm to upgrade equipment. Then he starts asking questions about how much TV I watch “in order to update my account.”

I hung up and accessed my account online. Used their robochat to confirm I didn’t have a service appointment. End of drama for me.

Thinking about it, I assume the end game is to get my credit card info in order to pay for a “service fee” or the new equipment. Or, if I balked at the “next day at 5 pm” and tried to reschedule, there would be a “temporary” payment to hold that time slot which would be returned to my account later.

I could hear at least 3 other voices in the background, so this was a call center of scammers. I despise people who do this. It’s bad enough people’s savings lose value even if left alone; to have someone actively try and con them …. may scammers rot in a very special level of Hell. 🤬
