Diversity is not our strength

Nor is it necessary IMO. Plentiful resources, you do you. No problems.

I’m a fraud that judges seat surrenders to the ability to tell the right time.

How up to incompetence?

I politely disagree. Diversity is beautiful IMHO, else it gets too boring. What I mean is, it becomes an echo chamber without different colours.

In other words, while diversity brings about various disagreements, it also brings about new perspectives. Of course, it shouldn’t be forced upon one to believe / agree with that different perspective.

Reminds me of this “shaayari”

चमन में इख़्तेलात-ए-रंग-ओ-बू से बात बनती है

हम ही हम हैं तो क्या हम हैं

तुम ही तुम हो तो क्या तुम हो।

Which roughly translates to:

It’s the amalgamation of colours and aromas that make a garden.

If it’s only us and us, then what are we

If it’s just you and you, then what are you.

(Bad translation, but that’s the best I could!)

And while not trying to do the kumbaya dance of diversity, it(diversity) does enhance your experience if one is willing to be accepting without being overpowered by opinions.

This is fine if everyone agrees on the same basic premises.

If not, diversity rots from the inside.

True. It rots if diversity leads to one forgetting their own identity. And agreeing just for the sake of “not hurting” sentiments.

Diversity with mutual respect and polite discussions is indeed beautiful. Thank you for sharing that translated wisdom, I really enjoyed that. I agree with her though that diversity is not our strength, and frankly neither is respect for differing views. Literally look anywhere in the world to see flagrant examples.

My pleasure!

Like I said, we all have our own identities. And that’s most important.

Agreeing just for the sake of agreeing or accepting improper behaviour so as to not “hurt” or “accept diversity” is mormónica and dangerous.
