People who have run, tried to run, or helped someone else run a bitcoin node. We’re there any steps to setting it up that you remember being difficult? I’m whether there’s a way to ease common frustrations.

Bitcoin Core itself... zero issues. It's when you're helping them set up lightning and beyond that choices widen and difficultly increases. But in those cases, if you need to take into account "common frustrations" or difficulties, then it's best just to go straight for something like Start9's StartOS.

If you can install software at all, then initial setup isn't too hard. I agree with Stu that the complication comes later with lightning or if you want increased security.

If you want to help in this area, I'd say start by looking for folks asking questions. Global search on Nostr is interesting. Otherwise stacker news and IRL meetups.

With umbrel.com on raspberry pi4 an illiterate can do it. But then it is pretty slow. Maybe with only bitcoin node on it, it would be OK. But with lightning it is slow.

The same umbrel on linux on old laptop (i5 4th gen) works like a charm.
