Wondering why an email address and account is needed? Was hoping for something I could use (and sync) without creating an account. Though looking at the roadmap it looks like self hosted server is in the works.

As is so often the case, I find myself evaluating the trade offs of better UX and ecosystem versus verifiable encryption and greatly enhanced privacy.

My years-long go-to for notes is Drafts (iOS and macOS). It’s remarkably polished with dozens of great extensions. It’s a Swiss army knife for text.

Notesnook feels quite a bit clunkier in comparison, but still quite good. I’m gm going to give it a serious go for the week or so.
