it has to do with the law of sowing and reaping. which is a universal constant, and each action we take sows a seed into the universe which must later be reaped. unfortunately the fruit of evil is death. by relying solely on our knowledge of good and evil, which is incomplete, we will inevitably sow that which produces death at some point, and be required by karmic law, the law of sowing and reaping, or the law of sin and death, to reap what we have sown. the great sacrifice of christ was to take on himself the inevitable reaping of death so that we could enter into life, as if we had never sown death. and through that transference of life receive a new nature and Spirit. Something entirely impossible to achieve in our own strength, operating from our own knowledge of good and evil.

intention matters. but even those ignorant of the law bear the consequence of breaking it. without outside assistance, we were doomed to the cycles of karma forever

Interesting, thank you:) What would be the best thing to do now according to this understanding? Any specific spiritual practice you can recommend?

enjoy being loved by God. Let Gods relentless love work all the coping mechanisms and fear out of you. Ask to know God better. Pray for wisdom, understanding, and compassion. Ask to understand the Kingdom.
