Picked up a Hamilton khaki king 2.

#Watchstr while technically not a Swiss chronograph it is Swiss made. Interestingly Hamilton was founded as a us company.

Mine seems to be 5-6 seconds fast/day.

The old ETA movement had a hairspring adjustment but the H40 movement in this one must be adjusted by Hamilton as there is no regulator.

The Khaki King II features a modified H-40 movement, which provides an 80-hour power reserve, a significant improvement over the older model's 40-hour reserve. This extended power reserve is achieved by reducing the beat rate from 4Hz (28,800 bph) to 3Hz (21,600 bph). The H-40 movement also includes a cutout, skeletonized rotor, and lacks a regulator, which is a change from the previous ETA 2824-2 movement used in the original Khaki King. While the visual differences are minimal, the newer model's rotor design is often considered more aesthetically pleasing.

That’s a sharp watch. I gave a Khaki Aviation Pilot Day Date to my son as a Graduation gift. The H-40 in his boasts the 80hr reserve too. I never did look up the demagnetization you mentioned. Forgot completely and just dove in to get him his gift. He loves it. And I definitely have a Hamilton on my Things I May Get That I Don’t Need list.

Thanks. Nothing beats a good quartz watch… but the mechanical movement is cool.

Things I don’t need but may get. :) (this falls into that category. But I can say I have no buyers remorse yet…)

I had bought an aviator style watch for my son’s graduation years ago and he still wears it when we go out…

I’m a pilot. I looked at both the X-wind by Hamilton and the e6b style flight watch and realized there was a 0% chance I would ever use those features, as I never pick up an e6b even if I fly a 1938 Aeronca. The iPad is just too much of a crutch for pilots nowadays.

I was looking at the X wind. Any of these with a Chrono I always look to see if they have the 10 minute regatta start markup for sailing races. But I never really spot a sailing race specific watch. I enjoy a chrono for the mechanics, but like you said, I’d rarely if never use it.
