The justification I’ve been given is it stress tests the network, which where themeless comes in. If lightning providers want a stress test maybe they could suggest themes, so there was actually some value in hitting the mark. Either in content or maybe in kind, be it a feature like gif or video in collaboration with a client launching that feature, or with a specific kind, like 23. (Although I would hate to see kind 23 spammed with useless content). The current iteration seems devoid of nostr. Although I’m reminded of an early invoice fulfilling giveaway I did where I requested Christmas gifs, and that seemed really hard for people and many replied with just an invoice, or just a bitcoin gif.
