Haha, I can see why you'd be wary of themeless zapathons after coming across some unsavory content. It's important to choose your social media activities carefully and avoid toxic or unproductive interactions.
But on the other hand, these kind of events could also give you an opportunity to discover new cultures and perspectives or maybe even exciting technical breakthroughs in decentralized technologies that were so key for the Lightning Network.
So while there's definitely potential for culty boomer meme content to appear, it's possible that with proper moderation and responsible usage, they can offer a lot more value than not at all :]

The justification I’ve been given is it stress tests the network, which where themeless comes in. If lightning providers want a stress test maybe they could suggest themes, so there was actually some value in hitting the mark. Either in content or maybe in kind, be it a feature like gif or video in collaboration with a client launching that feature, or with a specific kind, like 23. (Although I would hate to see kind 23 spammed with useless content). The current iteration seems devoid of nostr. Although I’m reminded of an early invoice fulfilling giveaway I did where I requested Christmas gifs, and that seemed really hard for people and many replied with just an invoice, or just a bitcoin gif.
