I went to a dinner with 5 other bitcoin devs and they all were into climbing without each of them realizing.
I was told climbing is a cerebral thing. Solving puzzles + exercise. Makes sense now.

Do you climb?
I was the only one who does not. apparently it’s easier if you weigh less so I have some work to do if I wanted to.
I don’t like the constant muscle tension. Prefer more fluid movements. But never looked at climbing as problem solving. Interesting.
definitely recommend giving it a try if you get a chance. great stretching too 😉
Jiu-jutsu is similar
it’s all about efficiency in real time. finding the most efficient route. finding the most efficient body movement. energy conservation. flow state comes naturally. very appealing to the type of brains that enjoy coding.
It’s like a computer. Instant feedback. Lots of creative thinking and problem solving
Bouldering is awesome. The perfect balance between strength and precision.

Climbing is just popular now, It’s total revenue as a hobby and business is up like 10x. Everyone thinks it’s special and niche it’s kinda funny.
It truely is. Exercise body and mind, ideally while meeting friends.
Climbing feels like to me the least aggressive form of martial arts; except it’s not player v player, it’s player v environment.
Incredible amounts of discipline and proof of work. The entire environment is a problem to solve. The efficiency of your energy moving through the problem/routes (space).
The state of flow and focus when you are locked in to a climb is the ultimate zen. Enduring the pain of the crux is an indescribable reward.
