I would love a standard for #Nostr apps to read relays from either

1) A relays list stored in Nostr

2) a standard file format for import and export.

3) something else more cleverer

And all Nostr apps used these methods.

As a user I find it annoying to be presented with needing to copy / paste each relay.

The friction will push us to centralization and reduces the network effect of Nostr. npub / nsec is less portable if I have difficulty keeping relay lists synced. Results in odd behavior. #devs #asknostr

I have had some apps magically have my relays and others not and I’m not sure why or how I can do more. A step in the right direction would be if apps asked nsec bunker or nos2x for the lists. Then I could have them in one place and just upload whenever I wanted.

What is this relay list? Are these mine?

no, they're the top relays according to that stats site. what's cool is you can tap to copy a relay then paste it into the add relays section of settings in your nostr app.

what app are you using? how many relays do you have in your list & how many are you connected to?

Gotcha, I think I have about thirty and I think I write to about 14 of them. I use Damus, Nostur, and primal for the basics. But I’d like to experiment with some of the other apps. Like stores and what not. The concept of relays creates some interesting features but also more complexity i with the apps had more of a means to manage that complexity. There are probably some need for special case apps as well. Just a mass import and export would be desirable.

there's got to be #devs working on that.

That’s neat. I don’t see myself really wanting to backup my notes but could be good if I was going to start my own relay I wanted to start with everything. Thanks.

I 2nd this request.
