The problem with web of trust anyone can abuse it. You report someone they get pissed off & report you back for every reason. Use bots to make spam reports on you then this wot will just block you off from everyone seeing your notes. It's on by default so there you go which is why it's important that people quote post & mention the user seperately after the quote. People won't see the event of the note so that's hidden but they will see you mentioning the person afterwords so it's like shouting out.
A lot of people don't know wot is built into clients like amethyst, primal, damus, coracle & others that it's on by default some let you turn it off others your just stuck with it forced on.

I hate that devs always opt you into stuff like this by default because. It's for your good, safety, & makes the social look clean. To turn it off:
Once you do turn it off because your now connected to everyones relay list of who you follow. Prepare to see way more spam bots, gay/transgender porn, rss feed bots, & other bullshit if you didn't see enough of it already.
Lots of those bots are on the relays wss://momostr.pink & wss://momostr.pub so you may want to block these 2 relays as they mostly produce mixed porn 80% faggotry & spam bots.

Idk someone once told me even if it's off theres still some part of it working. They told me about a fork which is an outdated client it doesn't have all the new features but it works & there is no censorship to it. the client got abandoned since it works & was only made to look at amethyst uncensored it would be nice if someone forked & could add a few new things.
It's a couple years old at this point. They stopped because turning off the two checkbox is the same thing AFAIK.

That's true. There are blocked accounts and blocked words that don't show up in the list.
This only works if people follow those bots. WoT uses info (reports, mutes, etc) from people you follow to work, not from everyone on Nostr. It's a good reason to keep people you trust in your follow list, not a bunch of randoms.
Idk about that one Ryan it only working on people you follow. Thus whole rely on people you follow is not good for this. You follow people because you like their content not because you trust them. Also what said before plays heavily into it which contributes to the problem it brings.
There are 2 spam blocking features in Amethyst.
1. It looks at your follows, and who they block & report. If the number is greater than 5, you get a "click to show" with a list of the users who have them blocked.
2. It looks at people sending the *exact* same message multiple times in a row. If a user is just spamming the same message, they are muted.

I don't like it, I've never banned or muted anyone (only one or two CSAM bots like two years ago) as I consciously make an effort to rather ignore than block or mute.
So that was almost zero for both.
But I went to check something and I saw so many blocked accounts that I know I never ever did.

I'm not sure why he was blocked. But that's why there is an option to disable it. There was a fork called onyx that I linked to in another comment, that didn't have these spam blocking features enabled. Once Vitor added the options, that fork was stopped, because it was no longer necessary.
Right. Maybe I'm just lazy, but to have to go and actively change this feels wrong. Should be the other way, no?
