From two smallish trees, I was able to almost fill this bucket with acorns. After shelling some, the meat is leeched to remove tannins. Next, they will be dried and/or roasted.

Where did you learn to do this?

The Inturwebtubes!

I figured , didnโ€™t know if you had a specific video or book.

Iโ€™m growing swamp chestnut oak cause itโ€™s supposed to not have as many tannins

I've heard the tanins dhojld be washed out several times during more days๐Ÿค” But I guess it works for you just fine.

You are correct. Raven has been changing the water each day. Even after 5-7 days they were still slightly bitter, so she ground them up and we're soaking them some more.

5-7 days? Is it worth it in the end?

Letting a jar sit doesn't take much effort. ๐Ÿ˜œ For me this is an experiment in turning natural abundance into something nutritional. To be practical, it would need to be done on a larger scale with a grinder and larger containers for leeching. Either way, it's another step toward self reliance.
