The authority God instituted in this country a couple hundred years ago was that the individual has the power and the citizens choose representatives (not leaders) to enact governance. The controlling document that limits government action is the constitution. Just because a bunch of people are ignorant of that doesn’t mean there is some new authority that I will obey. I think you’re wrong about the constitution being dead. But if it is dead, then I declare myself king, appointed by God and you all shall submit to me like good Christians. I shall accept all homage in bitcoin only.
I started to do a longer more thoughtful post but lost my progress so this is the short version. Most people haven't read and even fewer understanding the Constitution now including elected officials which makes it impossible for it to truly be the governing Authority, if it ever was. Without people to read it know it and and force it, it's just a piece of parchment sadly. A while back I reviewed one of David Barton's books where he gave examples of 19th century textbooks for elementary school children which showed that they were expected to know the Constitution better in elementary school then then most adults know it today. I recommend the following on the topic. https://canonplus.com/tabs/none/videos/30435

Ha! Good luck with that!
Power resides in the people but is unused power, power at all?
