It seems to me that the vast majority of people I have around do not take their jobs seriously, yet their jobs are what allows them to build a life, namely pay for living expenses, maybe buy a house one day.

Why the disconnect? If your job is what sustains you, why perform it poorly?

Is this part of the fiat disease?

Most of the times, people are not allowed to do their job to their potential at all, they face roadblocks in other people, company policies, management, office politics, so much so that they just give up.

In my very first jobs my mentor told me that "if nobody hates you, you're not doing your job well." I found it quite odd at the time and I am still not a 100% comfortable with it, but each day this statement rings truer.

A lot of this stems from FIAT, and this sort of a workplace environment is easier to build up in a FIAT company for sure

Most people make the same amount of money whether they perform well or not. They work 40 hours a week regardless so why try any harder?

If your life sucks and work is boring then you’re going to take what you can from your job in terms of energy and time.

Maybe Fiat does have something to do with it. I tend to work harder because I have bitcoin as a motivator. I also see working as a away to increase my skills which a lot of people do not

Most people's jobs "build a life" for a faceless bloodthirsty CEO, not the employee

Thar certainly explains a lot! It's sad, but I'd encourage people to fight for something better if they can

There are certain strategies that can be used to climb the ladder of slavery but no individual can fully escape enslavement alone

If you put like this, the first problem here is the following (quoting Taleb):

"Those who do not think that employment is systemic slavery are either blind or employed."

But there are also those of us who are neither blind nor employed, but notice how we have a system of slavery where the slaves are called "employees"

You can’t teach work ethic.

because of the regulators and centralization a lot of jobs can't be done independently so your stuck in a job with no potential to breakout. why try for no reward? there's no apprentice to master & business owner pipeline for a lot of jobs. Your stuck in baby mode your hole career.

Baby mode is a very good way of putting it, and I hate that it's like that. Adults should be treated as adults
