I suppose that would depend on what your definition of “best” is. If you’re trying to get away from algorithms, the last app you want to use is one that slaps you with an algorithm before you even get started. 😂

While primal may be lacking in some areas, IMHO, it’s the easiest app to onboard new users with, they also have a couple more privacy features which may make new users feel more comfortable as well.

Setting up a wallet is a breeze, along with getting a matching lightning address and NIP-05, which would align closer to what they’re used to. Decentralized doesn’t mean you have to have your information all over the place.

Granted the latter two are only available with a subscription, but if you just want to get in and go, it’s the fastest and easiest way.

YakiHonne is a close second but may be a bit overwhelming for new users and they don’t publicly offer a NIP-05. However, they will give you one if you ask, they are very nice.

You can turn it off in settings…

Settings -> Appearance and filters -> Blur images

oh thanks... found that now... still this is bad for normie adoption of Nostr, if you don't show them images they will quickly go back to Instagram..... and they will never find this setting...

Yeah but if they are casually scrolling and have some kiddie porn or gore pop up they are probably never coming back either 🙈

Na, you don’t want to show Normies porn first thing.

ok well we still need it for when your service goes down

Also hellthread on damus is fucked

you can mute threads... we are also pushing an option that mutes all hellthreads

I used it before, so I would know for a fact (and I was even on their partner program for about a month or two).

By the way, this is the same me that was on Nostr, but with an OPSEC upgrade (hopefully).
