The best thing you can do for yourself and your kids is to go out of your way to find situations and people that will tell you honest and tough feedback.

If you do not, you end up promoting things like DEI. And you advertise to the world something so obvious which is completely oblivious to you. You’re positively reinforced that you cannot be incorrect about anything because you’ve surrounded yourself with sycophants that don’t challenge you to think for yourself.

In other words you don’t have any real friends.

Yeah, knowing when someone needs honest feedback (vs just encouragement) and couching it in cushioning langauge is key.

Somehow couch cushion made sense there. I swear it was organic.

Yeah very fine line. It’s easy to believe you’re virtuous when you are telling the truth but feel psychological pleasure from brining someone down. That’s the zone you have to avoid.

Tone, patience and being curious are easier said than done. It’s always best to just ask questions kindly to first see if someone is willing to change their mind. If not, move on like James Bond might.
