I'm interested in knowing more about that. I dropped out of the internet for the most part in mid/late 1990s. Zero social media until last year when I joined Nostr. So maybe an age difference in attitude? Do you think that a lot of users are interacting with the intention/dream that it will provide them an income?

Ooo, that's a good question.
I don't think there's many (~<5%) trying to make money. And you can always pick those people based on their engagement farming posts.
However, I think a lot (~30%) dream/hope of getting a little side income just naturally.
I do think most people love looking at their follower count regardless for that dopamine hit.
But your asking the wrong bear about human psychologically. 😆
