So if one was interested in setting up their first node. Would it not be smart to use this vs a Pi 4 ? Seems much more powerful and lots cheaper.

Excuse the crappy image.

I can't excuse that image I'm blind 🤣 know 😅

😂

I think main advantage of rpi is ecosystem and wide adoption. Specs are not great for that but you should be setup and fix anything quite fast.

Renting server might not be a bad idea as well

Renting server sounds like a good option also. Thank you! 😃🤙

I'd recommend a mini PC instead. By the time you've put everything together, you're probably looking at a similar price anyways, just with way better specs

Hi, #[3],

Any particular make/model/software stack?

And can you get comparable low power draw vs a pi-type setup?

Install Embassy OS from Start 9 on that

I bought this w/ coupon for $400. It has room inside to add a 2TB SSD which will cost another $100 or so. About the same price I paid for my horseshit RPi node with all of the parts & accessories.

Should also add I synced up the full Core Node on this guy in under a day. My RPi took like a week and a half or 2 weeks, can't remember 🤣🤣🤣

How did you get a $100 coupon?

I’ve been using Umbrel on a couple of Pi’s for a while now. No complaints here.

A mini pc will give you a much more reliable experience. I’ve purchased several of these and have had zero issues. Still small and low energy consumption but much smoother operation. Toss in a bigger SSD, which you’d need with a Pi anyway and you’re set. Often times it’s cheaper to do it this way as well.

Smart idea! Thank you! 🤙

Sure! 👍
