Your kids need diversity of experience.

Sports teaches performing under observation. Fighting teaches handling physical threat. Building things teaches solving problems with limited resources.Business teaches dealing with rejection.

They don't need to be good at all of it. They need exposure to all of it. Each experience teaches something that can't be learned any other way.

The goal isn't specialists. It's men who can handle whatever reality throws at them.

Men who've been tested in different ways and know they can adapt.

Life has a way of naturally teaching these things if you keep your kids close. I’ve been working on both of my vehicles this past week and they are always quick to grab me a wrench or help in some way (when they aren’t playing). They learn mostly by watching us troubleshoot issues, and talking through my thought process with them has helped them learn

We do outsource for jiu jitsu and a forest school that teaches survival skills a few days a week. But I bring them along for working with clients sometimes and they come work the farmers market with me every weekend. Just the reps of seeing how we engage people has made a big difference for them, along w asking how they can be helpful and bring value to the table
