Any ideas what’s happened to my DeLonghi ? Obviously it’s clogged somewhere but where and how to unclog it? #coffeechain

Did you change coffee or grind size? Looks like the grind is too fine to me.

This can also be.. yes

I had a deLonghi and it did this when I made the grind size too small. I think the deLonghi machines are under pressurized.

Yeah depends on the kind of the machine, DeLonghi is not the top, but has pretty good machine for personal use. But as you say, the pressure is the main important characteristic for espresso machine 🤙

Maybe the pipe that takes the water are clogged with limestone. There's products to buy and put in the water to clean it.

Gotta Google that thing and try.

If you see that when you turn on to do the coffee without the handle, and it spill less water and pressure it was before could be that pipe. Otherwise can be something in the handle, so from the size of the coffe (if tou changed) or maybe the metal filter is a bit clogged and you can put it boiling water if it's removable.

Hope you sort it, #coffee is important. 🥲🫂😁

Check out cleaning procedure & decalc procedure, liquid solutions, ideally from manufacturer. Some machines have moving parts - these can get clogged with coffee grounds, and require cleaning, and lube.

I would suggest to start troubleshooting the easy things first. Is the coffee restricting flow? If believe if the grind is too fine it can do that.

How's your shower screen?

Too much grounds in my experience.

Looks like this is a pressurized portafilter? If so, they are designed to be much more forgiving with larger grind sizes, but too fine a grind can still restrict flow. I would try a courser grind first. If that doesn't work, descale the machine.

Longer term, I would suggest switching to a non-pressurized portafilter and a burr grinder. You'll get much more consistent (and much better tasting!) espresso.
