When you display notes, do you filter out notes that are in the future?

Like if the current local timestamp of the system is smaller than the recieved note's timestamp, you don't show it until locally the system timestamp passes note's timestamp.

This note is from the future:

Study beetcoin.

That is dangerous, it is a 🐇🕳! Or even a blackhole, if you touch it, it drags you in 😂

I don’t think so! I’ve seen notes remaining at the top of the feed from some clients. Probably client clock are a few 10s of seconds off. 🐶🐾🫡

Hmmm, okay. If it would be the case it could give place to a nice feature easily, to boost into the future.

Usually when a note is posted, it is right away boosted or not, so it does not show the note to a different circle than the one who can see it when it was posted. So it would be good, if we could schedule boosts to future.

If clients does not show notes from future, then this is an easy task. Just post it with future timestamp when you want to see it. So this way you might give bigger reach to a note you boost.

I am not sure what relays do, and they may differ depending on implementation. Probably not hard to try. It’s possible that only small delta is allowed! 🐶🐾🫡

Iris processes them when they become current.
