This reminded me that I was on a team that won a state drill competition. We had chrome (looking) helmets, no bayonette or firearm (as we were mostly minors), but our fake rifles looked snazzy, and none of the other teams had the moves we did. Fun stuff!

I don’t know what’s the history. But I’ve seen similar performances in the past.
I would guess it started because one clumsy fella dropped his weapon… then it became a challenge, then a performance, to a competition. 😅
