to watch videos?
Yeah it's actually pretty slick to be honest. castr turns the feed into an rss then rss video clients can absorb the videos. Nostr video NIP is still better but for kind1 maxis it's a pretty good alt + primal's search feeds. I can see why we aren't getting adoption because the other tools are still "good enough".
they're good enough with these workarounds, but the scrolling experience is still better on a dedicated app if you're into scrolling short videos. it all depends what you want and im happy that we have these user choices.
I just wish people would use both. I'm not against the kind1 maxis I'd just wish they'd make their content available on NIP-72 too. I don't see why so many people are willfully missing out on a whole range of community that's around video.
Users should upload to NIP-72 client and the NIP-72 client can construct the kind1 using the media still. That's what I've done with the share function on vlogstr. When you share you can create kind1 notes directly from there that still include the NIP-72 video's direct URL in the kind1. If done this way you can share your media on both kind1 and NIP-72 and be in both worlds. Still not seeing adoption of it though.
It'd be awesome if nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg media uploader just published a NIP-72 event on every upload of video or at least made it a simple option. Then their users would be contributing to both sides without having to think about it at all.
