“Connection” implies a bidirectional link while follows are unidirectional (you following someone doesn’t mean they follow you). I don’t love the term “follower” either but “connection” is technically inaccurate.

Yes… so in order for it to be a connection you both must “follow” one another…
This is an interesting feature. It would make it instantly recognizable to the user that the bidirectional connection exists… 🤔
LinkedIn has both Follows, which are one-way, and Connections, which are strictly bidirectional.
