I’m finding more range of thought, opinion and variety here than X these days.

Even with the small user base of nostr, with no algorithms you can get a clearer picture.

There are right leaning libertarians here for sure. But there are also left anarchists, middle of the road folks, mainstream progressives and conservatives, various communities and genders, and more.

Imagine what this looks like when nostr is even just 2x this? How about 10x? 100x? Incredible diversity, it’s only up from here. Let’s give social media (connection, journalism, media, truth seeking, social commentary, etc) a real shot here.

What do you attribute this to?

Is it being united by something that increases tolerance for other differences?

Is it not being artificially siloed into echo chambers by an algorithm?

I think it’s both. And I’d add those that come here and stick around typically do so with greater intention. It’s not as “easy” as traditional social media.

Just that slight buffer adds some level of authenticity. Minus the stupid bots and extreme accounts, which are few and far between compared to X.

Good point about the extremist bots and cynical rage baiters. I haven’t used mainstream social media in such a long time that I had forgotten about them.
