I consider the exposure of public keys with taproot to be a mistake, but I have always thought about a 40-year horizon, which certainly does not affect me but does affect my children.

9/11 → "terrorists" → Patriot Act surveillance

COVID → "safety" → digital ID mandates

Quantum → "your keys aren't safe" → surveillance addresses, ETF custody

And now with AI:

"Misinformation" → "only use approved AI" → Big Tech gatekeepers

Every time: manufacture fear, offer "protection," extract sovereignty.

The quantum threat is real on a 40-year horizon. The quantum narrative right now is a psyop to move retail off self-custody before the halving cycle plays out.

Same with AI. The capability is real. The "only OpenAI is safe" narrative is the same game.
