I encourage everyone to check out The Pearl: A Journal of Facetiae and Voluptuous Reading. These were published 1879-1881 and make frequent mention of the commonly known, obvious to them at the time, three genders: man, woman, and boy. Defined by the, ahem, roles of each gender in the grand tradition of things going back to the ancient Greek.

It's always been more than just a dichotomy, and people have always tried to simplify things to control others. Often we're not going to agree, it's best to just mind our own 🥂
