I would argue 9/11, because it was the "hero" generation's first big event that put everything into motion for them.

I'm starting to lean more this way as well

I think an easy test is to ask people where they were and what they were doing on 9/11. Most will remember.

When you ask them where they were and what they were doing during the 08 crisis, no one remembers.

That simple point of data is very telling

I think it’s more like a color wheel: you’re in blue and thinks look purplish and then you’re in red when you blink.
