Interestingly, "following" a user is not enough in the Nostr world. You have to also "follow" their relays to be able to exchange Notes. If you follow someone and don't have common relays then it is not sufficient 🤯

If you don’t share any relays you can’t talk to each other. Perhaps “follow” should prompt and to add relays if you don’t share any.
But you could still see them and follow them, but not reply to any of their posts?
exactly. You have to also “follow” at least 1 relay in common else you won’t see their post.
I see so you’d only be able to find these people as friends of friends that you’re already following and you’d never encounter them on global otherwise.
