Zap is a tip or "thanks". I think likes and zaps coexist well side by side.
Also with likes one has some sense how many people see the note. Helps with "shouting into the black digital void" effects for people with small nr of followers.

Sure, but I don’t really care about u or ur followers. I care about me. Also, I think they have competing interests, with Damus allowing people to choose to create a zap monopoly
Yeah exactly. Also, people like me who dont have a lightning address because its way too custodial for now, rather want a neutral like instead of a reposting it.
