Believe me, not for lack of trying.
Unfortunately, even the fast food joints over here aren't hiring. Regardless of my college education, experience, gained skills... It is a dog eat dog world out here.
It is scary. I was so desperate one time, I even put an ad on craigslist for house cleaning. I'm not only good at it, but I am honest, you know?
Crickets.... CRICKETS!!!
Terrifying, really.
So What do I do in the meanwhile? Try my best to convince an 85 year old not to kill himself for 3 hours while assessing how emergency services could help him (if at all). And then, if I have any brain function after that?
I draw....
I see, yea that sounds like it would take a toll over time. Glad you have an outlet with drawing but I imagine it can get pretty exhausting emotionally. Pardon my previous reply if it sounded abrupt.
Nope.
It sounded real.
I have a disability due to a brain injury. It basically it keeps me awake. 24/7. It feels like I'm being tortured. the second I start feeling like dozing off, a surge runs from the very center of my brain to my heart and I'm awaken in terror every 35 to 45 seconds.
This has rendered me unable to drive anymore. I used to ride a motorcycle. It now collects dust. I can't sell it because my husband had to engineer the clutch. I have an injury which makes using my left hand extremely painful. Not easy since I was left handed.
So pulling that damn clutch in was hard. He modified it and I was happy to have been able to ride... that lasted me a year as after that, the radiation they did for my thyroid truly broke me. I already was not sleeping, but I could manage. After that? the not sleeping just became misery.
So I am limited as to how far I can commute for a job, and small towns don't have much going on at all, let alone having any decent method of public transportation.
I still don't give up. My lifespan may not be very long, but I can guarantee you. I don't know how I am gonna do it, but when my number's up, Ima gonna go guns a blazin'!!!
