Agree. We need that one successful app to onboard a lot of new users. It could be nextblock, Primal, Damus, Amethyst, etc. but I'm hopeful for nostr:nprofile1qqs8l7cf847rw8vkkhta7v8faa066r5le7dds8tgnau7ng2d74ey2cgpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhszrnhwden5te0dehhxtnvdakz7qgnwaehxw309ac82unsd3jhqct89ejhxtcymzaec. It can be a good Instagram and/or TikTok competitor.
nostr:npub1yz8n8jf7zye7ew6yftqr4hes6s3zlamaygr8amzkw05lwnqwjz5svspxp7post went viral today for #Nostr standards and I got me thinking...
One of the things nostr:npub1yz8n8jf7zye7ew6yftqr4hes6s3zlamaygr8amzkw05lwnqwjz5svspxp7 first noticed when we started nostr:npub1627md0lshr7hsa9z6ud8xpln2xvrszjcqv0uu5d8cjvz4f2vscnsat3aec was just how isolating it can be as a solo #bitcoiner. Today made me think that we may be compounding that effect being on #nostr. I haven't seen anyone else talking about this #tiktokban and how it is proving the power we all hold. They organized on #tiktok and made an app famous overnight.
Telling people to "get on Nostr" isn't working.
We need to definitively say "get on {app}". We know it doesn't matter which one it is, but for people who are just looking for a new social media app they don't value that value prop. They do value "nobody can take this one away from you" value prop. we should lead with this.
Thankful for normies like my wife who try to be the bridge for these two worlds. She is why nostr:npub17vscfmnmshfdw68llhduxtr4h0kkmyhzm4phzs40t3gqsmguz7lsak66ne exists. We are literally building an app to market to the soon to be #tiktok refugees

Streamlined user onboarding and we need to figure out how to get the nostr message out.
Working on that.
I like https://start.njump.me for onboarding, but I'm a nerd. We need something like that for non-nerdy people.
I like this. It’s pretty close. However, something like this should avoid industry language as much as possible. Stay away from terms like bootstrap or KYC. It should differentiate from typical user password signup but give you as close to the same feeling of creating a user pw. Nostr is different enough, we don’t need to reinvent everything. Especially familiar experiences. Why have a website generate your public private key to take to your client. Why not have the client generate it? If clients aren’t doing serious a/b testing for user journey regarding signups they they’re seriously missing out. I could very well be off on this though. i think it's a great project and we need something like this. however, i agree with you. for example, i don't particularly like this part of the onboarding process.
what is explained is too technical and what isn't explained leaves the user wondering how these things are accomplished with no links or information on how to actually do the things it's talking about.
"Why have a website generate your public private key to take to your client?"
The problem is people with no previous experience with public key cryptography will not be familiar with backing up secret keys. The goal with a website like start.njump is to make this easier.
I would also like to see more apps implement NIP07 that is more like a BIP39 experience. Current is the only app I know that does this though. Indon't recomend it anymore because the lightning addresses stopped working.
Thanks for the response!
