I set up a server on my VPS last week, and my wife and I switched our chat to simplex. Works perfectly. It's ready for the big stage.

Not sure about big stage. Seems to not scale well just yet.
Scaling in a sense that many users overwhelm the standard servers? I wouldn't know, I only use my own server with two participants 😅
The UX feels like early Telegram, there are many little things that can and hopefully will be added in the future. Like video compression when sending video, compressed by the sending device of course. It would also greatly decrease the xftp server's network traffic.
