I just started live streaming shows so I'm a bit new to it.

Lately I've been using mixxx to host the live show. It's a bit overwhelming at first.

I can't believe I forgot to mention The Split Kit. It's the most important part.

It's what we use to handle the Value Time Splits (wallet switching)

That way the artists can get their split while their song is playing.

TSK can be confusing at first.

I made this video over a year ago when I was first learning how to use TSK.

A lot has changed since then and I need to make an updated version but the basics still apply.

Also you don't have to host your own icecast server Sir TJ The Wrathful of the Doerfel's uses internet-radio

I use RSSBlue to host. Always $5 a month. It lives forever in the Index. Doesn't matter the app, as long as it's v4v enabled.

There’s definitely tools out there if you want to self host. I know a guy. You can do it for $1 per month with bunny cdn. They even let you pay your bill in BTC which is cool.

I record in either Riverside or Clean Feed. I edit audio in Hindenburg, video in Riverside.

I host on nostr:npub1gr65v2hqq83n3vqfh6m65eej65hxlqwyjp0echc9ghvw5p6pvqpse3mmjc because I don’t want to do manual work, like tagging. It’s 2024, WHY?! 😉

Why? Full control, independence, resiliency, that's why 🙂

Also I'm broke so I need to get the most bang out of my sats.

1 cheap digitalocean server provides me with all I need and more.

There's nothing wrong with paying someone to change your oil, but it's nice knowing how to do it yourself.

But, do you know how to do it?

I don't fault anyone for paying for services. If I were a richer man I probably would pay for more services myself.

I have found out that throughout the years one tends to be forced to pay for the things that one does not know.

My favorite example is cooking. Sure I go out to a restaurant every now and then but knowing how to cook has saved me thousands of dollars in my lifetime.

That's why I taught all my kids how to cook, change a tire, do an oil change, and do a basic tune up on a car. (even to drive a stick)

I don't expect any of them to actually do those things but they are armed with the information should they ever need it.

If you have time to upload your images and audio to someone else’s server and type in your title and descriptions into someone else’s input boxes, then you have time to upload it to your own server. Sovereign Feeds and Music Side Project are designed to be as easy as any podcast host, only you’re the host. Different strokes for different folks, but let’s not pretend it’s because digital sovereignty is difficult.

Time vs convenience. I like building but to my detriment, projects stall. i want to try it all and have a hard time sticking or perfecting a routine. All this info helps immensley, thank you!

I will pay for convenience. I have zero extra time lately… no time to learn a whole hobby thing.

Learning work stuff is a different story.

Also, don’t have time to cook… like, and I say this as a completely hetero woman, I need a wife 🤣

Sovereignty is a LOT to talk to noobs about. We sound crazy. Remember, we are talking to citizens of the matrix here. We hold a key but they have 30 hoops for them to jump through before they understand which lock it goes in.

Hell yeah you can host a stream on a Mac book as a server. As long as anyone can access your files, you have a podcast or album. Dude, it’s super easy. Building a Wordpress web site is way more complicated.
