I paid 150 for each tire and $80 for front alignment

wow that is hefty

Its gotten expensive the last year.. regular break pads use run about $35 now break pads are $55

Inflation is a killer for older car owners

btw my wife changed her break pad and brake dics, 1 pair for MYR180. about 38.5 USD

i paid about 7USD for alignment

So you paid $25 usd. Tires were this price in the U.S. like 10 years ago or so now we up fo $60 a used tire

Tire price depends on the car and location. I would shoot for an average of >$150/tire though.

If you get upgraded tires then it’s only up from there.

mine is only about 41 USD per tyre. I bought the most basic they have, but new tyres. huhu. but it is a small tyre, tyre size 185/55

Small & casual tires get cheap, but some thinner tires get expensive and aren’t big.

Some places give free quarterly rotate for the life of the tires if you buy them there. This does not include balancing, nor alignment, usually. Be wary of the lug nut caper; be sure (if they say you need new lug nuts) you get the solid steel ones, that come factory, cause the cheap aluminum capped ones get stripped out quickly (with those impact ratchets they use) at the tire places.

This is true! If they need to replace lugs then ask for the stripped ones and make sure they match your OG ones.

Don’t go for the cheap ones or you will be replacing them again within a year.

never changed my lug nuts yet. huhu

Be prepared. Those power ratchets are brutal on ‘em. Of course, my vehicle just rolled over 300k, so I have experienced just about all the drama one can face at the auto shop. Also, if you have a sun/moon roof, get the rails lubed with that graphite grease every year or face financial pain.

thanks for the tips! i dont have a sunroof btw.

my mileage:

I just have to ask, is it still called mileage when it’s in kilometers?

Meterage?! I’m going to obsess about the proper term now…

Let me know when you find out?

Odominator!

Apologies. I’m punchy. Fixin’ to go to bed. Goodnight!

hahaah yeaaah we still call it mileage

This is wrong!

Hey dude, we don’t make the rules, we break ‘em!

That’s cause the rules are wrong.

Yes, my dude, most of them are.

I paid about USD$95 each for four tyres, and about USD$55 for alignment, just a few weeks back.

But looking at what US-ian posters are paying, I think I got a pretty good deal. They weren't even the cheapest tyres.

I have previously taken a car on the ferry across Bass Strait to have major work done in Tasmania (60% the price of Melbourne).

Disturbia my friend, I think we should be looking at outsourcing our car repairs to M'sia next time! :-D

hahahaha you could simulate a scenario 🤣

i think to rotate tyres they charge about 3.20 USD here

90 each tire is good for the size of tite, Mount & balance is fair make sure whole alignment not just axle with new tires. Talking fiat loonies
