I think 'normal' people (ie anyone who doesn't want to post and reads posts in the style of Left Twitter from the 2010s) are leaving. Is my guess. Probably go back to Instagram as main/sole social media.
The whole bluesky image they want to present is a 'nicer' twitter, but really it's far from it. It's a pretty nasty ideological solo. It's just a different one to twitter.
After earnestly trying Bluesky, I don't think it's purely cultural. The way that a block can make content muting decisions on behalf of everyone else in the thread is, I think, correlated to why you tend to only find people that prefer echo chambers on the active parts of bluesky.
Bluesky and Nostr stats are all public, why resort to anecdotes?
