The people pretending to be opposed to spammers are the actual spammers

They’ve been shoving shit into bitcoin at a discount, abusing the current set up.

They are directly impacted by this as it makes the cost of spamming go up for them.

That’s the truth.

But the current system will still exist, spammers will just have more options to shove shit into bitcoin? How would the cost of spamming go up, wouldn’t they be able to now choose whichever is cheaper… genuine question.

Currently they are shoving stuff into witness data which is discounted block space

And they would still have that option even with OP_RETURN, wouldn’t they?

Which is why the conversation needs to be developed in full- unfortunately this is coming out in broken bits- but a few days ago others and I were discussing that you cannot discuss op return without discussing witness data

I don’t support the PR as is, but I also don’t support people pretending to be virtuous when clearly they are the ones benefitting from things as is in a spammy way

We have a few things that need to be figured out before this conversation needed to be had… specifically hardware constraints

Nodes can only handle so much load

Hence why I have openly advocated and supported the work projects like libbitcoin focus on

We have bigger problems than an op_return limit

God bless the spammers

😑 lol im not having this argument with you today

:D
