Buy yourself a tripod for the phone, google when the Milky Way core is showing near your location in a reasonable time (8-10PM), mount the phone at the tripod, point it towards the core (its usually easy to spot outside the cities on a moonless night) and do a 30 sec long exposure. Happy mind blowing.
