technology has nothing to do with it. it's physics.

you can't land a rocket and then launch it again because it will either be too heavy to land or not have enough fuel to launch back.

this is why it was never done "again" - because it's impossible.

it will literally be easier to establish a mars colony because Mars has atmosphere so you can land using some kind of a wing or parachute rather than by burning fuel to slow down.

and because it would be a permanent colony - nobody coming back, thus you won't need to bring rocket fuel with you - only solar panels and some batteries.

Correct, you can't launch a rocket again after it lands. But if it landed carrying a (much smaller) rocket called a Lunar Ascent Module, then you can launch that, as long as you leave all your heavy gear behind on the Lunar surface.

Requires mad skillz and nerves of steel.

The Greatest Generation had the right stuff. The best of them, anyway.

that's not how these things work sonny boy.

Putin didn't utter a peep when Israel did 9/11 and America said it was Al-Qaeda and their "proof" was that "only Al-Qaeda had the capability to do it"

leaders don't talk about these things because they understand that it will undermine their own credibility with their own people to point out that governments are capable of such evil against their own people

at least Russian Government understands this. American media keeps talking about corruption in Russia and China because they know Americans are too dumb to understand our own government is is just as bad.

but others remain silent when America pulls BS because they don't have the messianic complex that Americans have where they think they are made out of different meat than everybody else

Very cool if the Silent Generation managed. I agree they may have had the nerves and skills to maneuver like that if any generation did.

However, Taking off again from the moons surface and rejoining with the orbiting rocket... This seems sooo difficult.

It seems much more difficult than landing the rocket on the surface a la SpaceX, since the orbiting module is moving so the lunar ascender had to follow exact orbital path as the orbiter.... No ellipses, no slight angle to the 2 orbits and no difference in altitude...

Then they have to run into each other without bouncing off...

I'm not sure what controls they had to maneuver and how they could see where they were in orbit and how close to the orbiter...

It almost seems more likely that aliens saw the ship and were like " we will get you there and back, you guys just figure out the parachutes and water landing".

These feels like such a huge psyop rn.

Madly difficult to match the vector and speed of the other craft well enough to dock.

Like mid-air refueling of jets, but without turbulence.

(Yes, Silent Generation did that too, and with only the most rudimentary instruments.)

My generation struggles with USB sockets.
