When you decide to start #homesteading, it is exciting. You get all these cute little baby animals. Nobody prepares you for the inevitable. Today I had to put this beautiful girl down. Ive had her since the egg. Raised her, protected her, loved her. Its never easy, no matter how necessary it may be. She was four years old this year. Long life for a #backyard #Chicken.
Time to start looking for the next generation.

I agree completely. All ours have names and get treated with care and compassion their whole life. We make an effort to create a space where each can fully express their instinct and be safe. I'm sure the next generation of chickens will bring you as much joy.
