Thinking hundreds of millions of users are going to figure out relays is retarded dev echo chamber thinking.

This is terrible UX I'm sorry but ngmi

Clients should discover relays and post to appropriate relays on behalf of the user based on who they follow and who follows them

You’re not wrong.

i agree, i think amethysts setup is too hard for normies. but i also like having the option to customize. maybe if they had an easy mode choice that picks for you, but that is,definitely not vitors style. prolly better normies just use primal or some easy mode client

Default simple layout with expanded options for advanced users seems like the best solution imo nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z

Pretty sure Amethsyt does add default relays when a new nsec is made.

Also, I never understand the thinking that things need to be designed for the lowest common denominator.

Default relays are not the answer, because you will still not be able to discover notes outside your list.

Products need to be easy to use and understand if you want mass adoption, it's not about "lowest common denominator".

Where does this unspoken premise of mass adoption come from. I don't care about mass adoption. Not everything needs to be so simple that no effort is required.

Lmfao yeah I forgot we all working on nostr and spending millions so 100 of us bitcoiners can circle jerk each other unimpeded

What personal return are you expecting from Amethsyt?

I agree, but at the same time Amethyst does use sane defaults for relays anyway. So I appreciate the ability to access advanced settings while most users who don't care won't touch it. 🤷‍♂️

you mean they should read automatically from the correct relays? like using the outbox model?

I JUST WANT TO SEE nostr:npub1u3jp6rhdw8fdps8k3nf4pr2slnd3j49vrnx6y6wahda8397zyc2qw7q7na NOTES IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK? I DON'T KNOW WHAT AN OUTBOX MODEL IS NOR SHOULD I

yes you should, maybe not everybody should, but since you are an early adopter you should definitely know
